Product Description
Type Lever fill fountain pen
Product Name Model 55
Manufacturer and Year Burnham, England -- 1950s, based on the cap bands, ribbed feed, and probable pen material. (Burnham made some pretty, marbled pens, we think of them as a poor man's Conway Stewart or Swan.)
Length 5-1/16"
Filling System Lever filler with a new sac
Color Lovely color! Marbled green and brown casein. Gold filled trim.
Nib FLEXIBLE MEDIUM. Very good every day flex, nothing dramatic but fun and suitable for all kinds of writing. It's 14k with excellent tipping material, very smooth. The nib has a deep toolmark on the imprint and a bit of a ripple on the tines. None of this affects writing. See sample below.
Condition Very nice condition. There is a tool mark on the section and quite a bit of brassing on the trim. The trim holds up best on the lever. There is some brassing on the lever and on the sides of the clips. The imprint is very good. No cracks, even though casein cracks easily, and no scratches, chips, or dents outside the nib.
