Product Description
Type fountain pen.
Product Name Madison. It looks similar to the current Geneve pens in clip style but not in width or cap derby.
Manufacturer and Year Caran d'Ache, Swiss Made -- 1970s, this is a current model but this Madison looks quite different from the new ones. It looks more similar to the original Madison from the 1970s.
Length Just over 5-3/8". This is a slender pen.
Filling System Takes international cartridges and converters. A piston converter is installed and there are four partially dried cartridges in the box.
Color Unmarked silver-colored metal. Since it isn't marked, it is definitely plated but based on Caran d'Ache product history could be palladium, rhodium, or chrome. For brevity's sake, we will refer to it as chrome plated. The plating has a grouped lines pattern and it has a sword shaped clip.
Nib BROAD 14k nib. Its nib size is labeled L which indicates broad. While the tipping material is flattened, it does not write with much line variation. Some people call these vintage 14k Caran d'Ache pens "somewhat flexible" but we would call it springy at most and do not recommend flexing it.
Condition Excellent condition. The pen has no handwear and is nicely shiny but it does have a few marks of plating wear and the barrel imprint isn't crisp. No cracks, dings or dents, personalization, or major scratches. It ships in a Caran d'Ache Madison box.
