Product Description
Type Nib unit with nib, feed and screw in housing
Product Name Nib unit.
Manufacturer and Year Cartier, France, 1970s or 1980s (?).
Measurements (We have these in two different configurations, but we believe they fit the same pens.)
All plastic housings: Outer diameter of threads: 7.35mm. Widest diameter below threads: 6.83mm. Length from top of threads to nipple end: 22.5mm.
Gold-plated collar: Outer diameter of threads 7.32mm. Widest diameter below threads: 6.84mm. Length from top of threads to nipple end: 21.8mm.
Condition These are new old stock nibs, we believe originally intended for the Cartier Pasha fountain pen. The nibs are 18k nib with perfect tipping. It's got just a little light flex to it and is very smooth and a little on the wet side. These Cartier nibs are famous for smoothness. Each unit has been tested and adjusted for smoothness.
While these are not marked as to nib size, we have tested each nib unit and have judged them to be mediums and fines. As you can tell from the writing sample below, there's not a huge difference in terms of line width.
If you are trying to replace an existing nib unit, please make sure you can unscrew the existing nib from the section as you will want to measure it and confirm which of the two styles of collar is a match before ordering.
Thanks to a knowledgeable friend on Instagram, who says the metal collared units replaced the original plastic/resin collars, we're thinking these fit:
- Old version of the Pasha
- Diabolo mini
- Must de Cartier
- Cougar de Cartier
We've taken extensive measurements, but it's difficult to ID any other specific pens that they might fit into. We have previously used the nibs (without the Cartier screw-in housing and with an Eversharp Symphony feed) on our Soquel and Ranga 4CSmodels. The measurements are close to that of a Bock #5 unit, but they're just a tiny bit larger than the Bock.
