Product Description
Type Vintage collectible fountain pen in excellent working condition
Product Name Unknown
Manufacturer and Year Chilton, Boston, Massachusets, late 1920s
Length 4-5/16" - the pen was originally a ringtop pen, but the ring hardware is missing.
Filling System Pneumatic filling system, Chilton's second version. Pull the knob on the end of the barrel, immerse the nib in ink, hold your finger over the hole in the end of the barrel, and push down. This pressurizes the sac and when the pressure is released, ink is sucked into the sac. (It's very similar to Sheaffer's later Touchdown system) The pen has been restored here at Peyton Street Pens with a new sac.
Color Green Marble - dark green chunks in a black background. Gold filled triple cap bands.
Nib FINE 14k nib. Firm and smooth.
Condition Excellent condition. Light to moderate scratching on the cap and barrel. The cap is missing the ringtop hardware. There is a chip out of the top edge of the cap. The patterning on the wider middle cap band is a bit worn, but still visible. The section looks great. There is a scratch, about 1/2" long, on the barrel just behind the cap threads. The edge of the blind cap has some chips in it. It's a very handsome little pen, with a clever filling system. The barrel imprint is clear.
