Product Description
TType Fountain pen, very collectible and hard to find
Product Name Wing-Flow
Manufacturer and Year Chilton Pen Co., Long Island City, New York. (1935-38)
Length Full size -- 5-1/8"
Filling System Pneumatic filler. Pull out the tube at the end of the barrel, submerge the nib in ink, cover the breather hole on the end of the barrel, and depress the tube. We replaced the bladder and fully tested the pen, and it's working well though the mechanism is rather stiff.
Color Black with gold filled inlays in the "N" pattern. Gold filled trim.
Nib FINE, between semi-flex and flexible. Original Wing-Flow nib is in excellent condition with very good tipping material.
Condition The hard rubber body and gold inlay are in great condition, though the inlay shows some brassing as does the ridge of the clip. Very shiny and striking to look at. The imprint on the piston knob is excellent and very readable.
We restored and tested the filling system, but despite lubrication the mechanism is still a little stiff ... we're guessing there was a small amount of skrinkage of the barrel. You will need to exercise care when you first grasp the knob and pull it out as it takes a little tugging to get it started. Then you'll need to be careful not to damage the nib on the bottom of the ink bottle when you go to depress the plunger.
Personalized inlay is "C L B"
