Product Description
Type button fill fountain pen
Product Name CIB Populair
Manufacturer and Year Merlin, Netherlands, 1950s. There's some suggestion the pens were manufactured in Germany; the lion head nib imprint indicates that the nib was made by Peter Rupp, a German nib maker from the 1920s-70s. The body of the pen looks almost identical to the Merlin 33.
Length Almost 4-5/8"
Filling System Button filler (we replaced the sac).
Color Blue-Grey celluloid, in a sort of "flowing water" looking pattern. The color has pearlescence. Gold filled or plated trim, brassed.
Nib 14k nib is semi-flexible. It is very small and has a lion head icon on it. Please see our writing sample.
Condition Very Nice condition with no cracks, chips, dents, or dings. This is a pretty little pen in a very nice shiny color. The cap and barrel have light to moderate scratching. The clip and cap band both have a lot of brassing and plating wear. The imprint is clear.
