Product Description
Type fountain pen set in box
Product Name All American (the body is marked, and it's fitted with an All American nib). All-American is Conklin's product line which featured lower priced and entry level pens, and used many of the same materials and shapes as the more expensive models. We've seen this set in gift boxes branded "All-American," however this pen is in a fully branded Conklin box from the same era.
Manufacturer and Year Conklin, USA -- 1930s (We're not sure if this was made in Toledo or Chicago.)
Length The fountain pen measures 5-1/16" and the mechanical pencil measures 5-3/16"
Filling System The fountain pen is a lever filler. We've replaced the sac and it works great. The pencil uses a twist mechanism and takes "thick" or 1.1mm leads. It extends and retracts well. There is an old eraser beneath the cap.
Color Burgundy red candy stripe pattern. Both pen and pencil have two narrow bands and the Conklin shaped clip. The trim is gold filled.
Nib FLEXIBLE FINE All American nib. Good tipping, nice flex from fine to broad. See the writing sample below.
Condition Superior condition. The pen and pencil have very little handwear. The primary wear on the fountain pen is that the lever sticks out a bit. The pencil cone is brassed with dark marks. No cracks, chips, or personalization. The set looks great and ships in a Conklin box. The fountain pen is fully restored and working well.
