Product Description
Type Crescent filling vintage fountain pen, restored and working well.
Product Name Crescent 40, identified by the imprint at the end of the barrel
Manufacturer and Year Conklin, made in Toledo, Ohio -- 1920s.
Length Just over 5-7/16 inches. This is one of the larger Crescents.
Filling System Crescent filler. We've restored it with a new sac and its working very well.
Color Black chased hard rubber (BCHR) with a gold filled crescent.
Nib Manifold (firm) fine Conklin Toledo nib is smooth with nice tipping material.
Condition Very nice condition. The main flaw is that the hard rubber surfaces have been treated to restore the dark color, and the results are less than perfect with some areas of brown showing thru. The barrel has moderate scratching throughout. The cap has a very small chip on the lip as well as some rubber wear along the edge. The imprints and chasing are not crisp due to the substance used to re-blacken the pen, but they can be read. No cracks.
