Type Crescent filling vintage fountain pen, restored and working well.
Product Name Crescent 40 as identified by the imprint at the end of the barrel. 4 is for nib size; 0 means no bands, but this pen does have a band.
Manufacturer and Year Conklin, made in Toledo, Ohio -- 1920s.
Length Just over 5-5/16 inches. This is one of the larger Crescents.
Filling System Crescent filler. We've restored it with a new sac and its working very well.
Color Black chased hard rubber (BCHR) with a gold filled crescent. 1/5 14k gold filled 1/2" wide ornate cap band.
Nib FLEXIBLE MEDIUM Conklin Toledo #4 nib is smooth with nice tipping material. It is almost fully flexible with strong line variation. Please see the writing sample below.
Condition Excellent + condition. The imprints are legible and the chasing is present. It has lightened some but evenly so. The gold plating is strong. There are a few marks at the end of the barrel. We've restored the pen and it's working very well.
