Type Crescent filling vintage fountain pen, restored and working well.
Product Name Crescent 40 as identified by the imprint at the end of the barrel. 4 is for nib size; 0 means no bands, but this pen does have a band.
Manufacturer and Year Conklin, made in Toledo, Ohio -- 1920s.
Length Just over 5-1/2 inches. This is one of the larger Crescents.
Filling System Crescent filler. We've restored it with a new sac and its working very well.
Color Black chased hard rubber (BCHR) with a gold filled crescent. 1/2" wide ornate cap band.
Nib FLEXIBLE fine Conklin Toledo #4 nib is smooth with nice tipping material. It is almost fully flexible with strong line variation from fine to broad. Please see the writing sample below.
Condition Superior condition. The imprints are legible and the chasing is crisp. The color is very dark. The gold plating is excellent with no plating wear or brassing. We've restored the pen and it's working very well.
