Product Description

Product Name Crescent 4NL as identified by the imprint at the end of the barrel. This pen has one of the early experimental clips patented in 1916 after the company moved away from the clips patented by Van Valkenburg, seen on page 275 of the CONKLIN LEGACY book.
Manufacturer and Year Conklin, made in Toledo, Ohio -- 1920s.
Length 5-7/16"
Filling System Crescent filler. We've restored it with a new sac and its working very well.
Color Black chased hard rubber (BCHR) with a gold filled crescent and clip.
Nib Extra fine Conklin Toledo #4 nib. (First nib used in mass production, starting in 1923, with CONKLIN in all caps.) Line variation from extra fine to broad, we consider it full flex, and the nib feels soft and it flexes easily. Please see the writing sample below.
Condition Excellent + condition with no cracks, chips, dents, or dings. This is a dark, classically designed pen, with excellent chasing. The black hard rubber has faded only slightly to a dark chocolate brown. The chasing is crisp. The cap looks great. Minor brassing on the very edges of the clip. The crescent is smooth and very shiny. The clip is excellent. The imprints are clear.
