Product Description
Type Crescent filling ring-top fountain pen, restored and working well.
Product Name Crescent ring-top
Manufacturer and Year Conklin, Toledo Ohio -- 1930s.
Length Just a hair over 4-3/8 inches.
Filling System Crescent filler. We've restored it with a new sac and it's working very well.
Color Black hard rubber with a gold filled filigree overlay in the 3-Leaf pattern.
Nib FINE Conklin "Student Special" Toledo gold nib is smooth and springy. It is not flexible. It is probably a replacement of a $2 or #3 nib, as the "Student Special" nibs are usually found on less-deluxe models.
Condition Excellent condition. There is a little brassing at the top of the cap and on the edge of the crescent. The edge of the cap and the cap lip have small notches. The overlay has small marks and scratches, but looks lovely. The black hard rubber is still very black. The locking mechanism for the crescent moves stiffly, and one end of the ridged ring is jagged (see photo below). The pen has been fully restored and it's working very well.
