Product Description
Type Crescent filling vintage fountain pen, restored and working well.
Product Name Crescent NL34S as identified by the imprint near the end of the barrel. Confusing model number, to say the least, as the #3 should indicate a #3 nib (this pen has a #2) and the 4 meaning is not known. The "S" should indicate a non-threaded slip cap and this pen's got a threaded cap. There's a great discussion on FPN about the numbering system, but we're not sure we have correctly decoded this model's number!
Manufacturer and Year Conklin, made in Toledo, Ohio -- 1920s.
Length 5-3/8"
Filling System Crescent filler. We've restored it with a new sac and its working very well.
Color Black chased hard rubber (BCHR) with a gold filled crescent. No clip.
Nib FINE FLEXIBLE Conklin Toledo #2 nib. Line variation from fine to broad. Fairly soft feeling, it flexes easily. Please see the writing sample below.
Condition Excellent condition with no cracks, chips, dents, or dings. This is a shiny pen with visible chasing, that has a classical design. The coloration has mellowed to a fairly consistent chocolate brown. The original black can be seen on the section and under the cap lip. The chasing, although smoothed out (particularly on the cap) is nicely visible. The cap and barrel have a few small scratches. The crescent looks great. The imprints are clear.
