Product Description
Type Lever filling vintage fountain pen and mechanical pencil set
Product Name Endura (marked on the fountain pen barrel and the nib). Symetrik is marked on the mechanical pencil under the top two gold bands. There's quite a bit of blurring of the lines between the rounded Endura and the Symetrik .... this set looks exactly like the one we have labelled Symetrik on both pieces. There are none of the engraved grooves you see in the flat ended Enduras and sometimes on the rounded ones.
Manufacturer and Year Conklin, Toledo Ohio – circa 1930s.
Length Both pieces are 5-1/8" long. We believe this is the standard size, but it might be the "large" size as we have not been able to find measurements. It's definitely not the oversize version, which is over 5-1/2" in length.
Filling System Lever filler. We've restored it with a new sac and it's working very well. The mechanical pencil takes 1.1mm leads. A packet of leads will be included.
Color Green marble with gold plated trim. The pen and pencil have two gold cap bands each. Ends are rounded on both pieces. The cap has an embedded gold crescent above the clip.
Nib FINE flexible gold Endura nib. Please see writing sample below.
Condition Excellent condition with no cracks, chips, dents, or dings. This is a beautifully colored, shiny, marbled set with some pearlescence. The fountain pen barrel has marks caused by the cap lip and mostly light scratching. There is a cluster of small, short scratches across the "P" in "Patent". The lever looks great and includes an etched serial number, NO1561590. The upper cap band is perfect. The lower one has plating wear along the bottom edge. The clip has heavy plating wear along the bottom and top edges and there are some dots of pitting along the plating wear edges on the top. The mechanical pencil has light scratching. The cone has microscratching and two deep dings. The clip has some dots of pitting along the top and lower edges and a bit of plating wear. The two gold bands above the clip have some dots of brassing but otherwise they look quite nice. The gold crescent is in good condition. The imprints on both pieces are clear.
