Product Description
Type Piston filling vintage fountain pen and mechanical pencil set
Product Name Nozac V-line in a herringbone pattern
Manufacturer and Year Conklin, USA -- Circa 1934.
Length Fountain Pen: 5-5/16"; Mechanical Pencil: 5-1/2"
Filling System Piston filler. We restored it with new seals and it works well. The mechanism is a little stiff at first, but will loosen up a bit over time with usage. This is a true piston filler, not a "quick-fill" plunger mechanism, so when you turn the end knob counter clockwise the piston advances down the barrel and you put the nib in ink and reverse the piston knob and it pulls ink into the barrel, which you can observe. The mechanical pencil takes 1.1mm leads. We will include a packet of leads.
Color Grey and pearl chevron pattern (faceted). It looks like a herringbone pattern. It is made of celluloid and has "reverse" silver colored trim. Black section. The barrel has a personalization: "James E. Nugent".
Nib Fine 14k Conklin Cushion Point nib.
Condition Excellent condition with no chips, dents, or dings. This is darkly colored, shiny set that is quite handsome. The fountain pen has excellent ambered barrel transparency. The cap and barrel have light to moderate scratching. The barrel has a personalization: "James E. Nugent". The cap band and clip have light plating wear, with one spot on the clip where the plating has flaked off. The cap band has moderate microscratching, a few small, deep marks along the bottom edge of the band, and a thin line of pitting along the lower edge. The mechanical pencil has moderate to some heavy scratching on the cap and barrel. The cap has a number of small, deep scratch marks to the right of the top of the clip. The cone, cap band, and clip have complete plating wear and moderate microscratching. There is a crack where the barrel meets the cone, but the mechanism still works well, and we have priced the set accordingly. The cap band has a bit of pitting along the lower edge. The clip sits a bit awry. The imprints on both pieces are clear.
