Product Description
Type Very small lever-filling, ringtop vintage fountain pen in great condition.
Product Name This is the "short" size .... there was actually a shorter pen called the "midget."
Manufacturer and Year Conklin, made in USA -- circa 1924. These lever fillers came after the crescent filler pens.
Length 3-9/16" and very slender
Filling System Lever filler. We've restored it with a new sac and it's working very well.
Color Gold filled overlay over black hard rubber. The overlay has a checkerboard pattern.
Nib FINE flexible Conklin Toledo 14k gold nib is tiny, very smooth, and has nice tipping. It has a bit of flexibility under light pressure, line variation from extra fine to medium - see our writing sample below.
Condition Excellent condition. No personalization and very little plating wear. The pattern looks great. The imprint is very clear. There is a dent on the barrel, and we've included a closeup of this area in the photos. It's about 3/16" long (for scale, the little squares are about 1/16" on the sides, and the dent is angled). The lever bar has a tiny bit of brassing along the sides. There are some small dents at the end of the barrel, and a tiny bit of plating wear around the edge. The top edge of the cap has some shallow denting and brassing. The gold overlay on the section looks great with no brassing, though the very front of the section has a rough edge. It's fully restored and working well.
