Product Description
Type Vintage lever filling fountain pen.
Product Name We're not sure what they called this model, but Conklin collectors generally call the low end pens "Sub" when they correspond to a more familiar high end model. It's very similar to the Endura, but it is not marked and doesn't have any grooves.
Manufacturer and Year Conklin, Toledo Ohio -- circa 1920s
Length 4-15/16".
Filling System Lever filler. We've restored it with a new sac and it's working very well.
Color Black celluloid with gold palted trim, double cap bands with the Endura-style clip.
Nib FLEXIBLE FINE gold Conklin Toledo nib is smooth with nice tipping. It's almost what we would call fully flexible, with easy line variation from fine to double broad under very little pressure. See our writing sample below. There is a tiny tear off the left corner of the crescent shaped breather hole, but should not be a problem unless the nibs gets flexed to its extreme, which of course you should never do!
Condition Very nice condition. There are some lesser scratches and marks of wear on the cap and barrel. There are just a couple of tiny spots of brassing, one on the clip and one on the lever. No cracks or chips, dings or dents, or personalization. The imprint is worn in its middle, but readable. The pen is fully restored and working well.
