Type Vintage piston filling fountain pen and ballpoint pen set, in box
Product Name 88P.
Manufacturer and Year Aurora, Italy - 1958-1964. This pen dates from the earlier end of that range, as it has a serial number on the section.
Length Fountain pen is 5-7/16" long, ballpoint is 5-3/8".
Filling System Piston filling system. We've tested it and it is working well. The ballpoint pen does not work. It should take modern-day ISO G1-style refills, but we could not get one to work in this pen, so we think it might be broken.
Color Black with gold plated cap with a pattern of lines. Ink window on barrel above clutch ring.
Nib MEDIUM (the underside of the section is marked) 14k gold. Smooth with nice tipping material.
Condition Excellent condition. The fountain pen has slight handwear on the barrel. The ink viewing window has some slight staining, but it's still very easy to tell how much ink remains. The pen is working well. No dents or dings on the cap, and no brassing. Imprints are clear. Ballpoint: again, this is not in working condition, and we've priced the set based on the fountain pen alone. It still looks quite nice, with just light handwear. There are some scratches on the clip, and the clip is a bit "sprung", so it stands away from the body of the pen and won't secure the pen in a pocket.
