Product Description
Type Lever filler fountain pen
Product Name SM 205/83, marked near the end of the barrel.
Manufacturer and Year Mabie Todd & Co. England -- 1930s
Length 4-7/8"
Filling System Lever filler. We've restored it with a new sac and it's working well.
Color Blue "snakeskin" celluloid with nickel plated trim. It's a very basic pen, with an ebonite lever.
Nib FLEXIBLE FINE "Swan" #2 14k Mabie Todd & Co. nib is in nice condition, with good tipping. Very soft feeling with little pressure required to flex. When the nib is flexed, it spans between fine and a broad. See the writing sample below.
Condition Very nice condition. There were some small cracks in the cap lip, but we reduced the edge by about 1/8" so the cap is slightly shorter than usual. This removed some of the cracks, but not all of them, so this pen should not be posted (if the cracks are made worse, we cannot give you a full refund if you return it). The cap band is slightly loose (probably due to material shrinkage) and one side of it wiggles up and down (the other side is firmly attached to the cap). The material is a beautiful blue color in an unusual pattern that was called "snakeskin". The clip has some plating wear near the ball, and also along the edges. The imprint is somewhat faded on its right edge, but the rest of it is crisp and intact. Fully restored and working well.
