Product Description
Type Fountain pen and mechanical pencil in original box
Product Name Parker 51 Vacumatic
Manufacturer and Year Parker USA - 1940s. We can't find any readable remnants of a date code on either piece.
Length Full size - the pen is 5-3/8", and the pencil is just a tiny bit shorter at 5-1/4".
Filling System Vacumatic piston/plunger (restored with a new sac). The pencil takes .9mm leads.
Color Cordovan brown bodies. Lustraloy caps with gold-filled clips. Blue Diamond clip. Pearlescent jewels.
Nib MEDIUM-FINE gold nib. Very smooth.
Condition Excellent condition in original box. The fountain pen looks fantastic, with only light handwear. There are a few small scuffs on the bottom of the hood, near the feed. No cracks, chips, or serious scratches. We have restored it with a new diaphragm and it is ready for years of usage. The cap is very nice. There are a few light marks near the top, but no serious dents or dings. There is some plating wear along the sides of the clip. The Blue Diamond looks great. Both jewels are excellent. The pencil is in similar condition, with minimal scratches on the body. Like the pen, the pencil's clip has some plating wear on the sides. The plating on the nose cone looks good, just some brassing around the opening. The twist mechanism to extend and retract the lead is working great, and is very smooth. Minimal scratches on the body. The jewels on both pieces are perfect. The box (no. 254, marked on the bottom) has some wear, but is overall in quite good shape. The velvet lining is especially well-preserved.
