Condition Excellent condition with no cracks, dents, or dings. This is a lovely, elegant, classic pen in a beautiful holder and on a pretty base. The fountain pen is long and tapered with excellent coloring. The lever looks great, no brassing or plating wear. The gold band on the pen does have some corrosion along the edges. Bands on the trumpet look good. The metal ball and socket pieces attached to the base have some brassing, but the mechanism moves smoothly. Body of the pen has microscratching and hand wear, but no major marks. Imprint is clear.
The base has some tiny nicks on some of edges, and on the pelican wing. The largest of these chips is about 1/4" and on the bottom of the base, the top surface is very nice. Underneath, there's an imprint that reads "D'Avesn Made in France for Eversharp". Pierre D'Avesn (real name Pierre Girre) was a highly regarded glass artist of the Art Deco era, and pieces signed under his name are somewhat rare.
