Product Description
Type Vintage fountain pen in excellent working condition, lever filler.
Product Name Deluxe Hundred Year Pen. This is the second version, oversize, with smooth barrel and cap. The second version pens came in oversized DeLuxe, smooth and grooved standard models, and the ladies model. The standard pens had the #17 nib and the DeLuxe pens had the larger #18 nib, though frequently the nib is not marked with a number. We're fairly certain this pen is the Deluxe due to the fat girth, and the fact that it has a trim band on the barrel.
Manufacturer and Year Waterman, USA -- early 1940s
Length 5-1/4"
Filling System Lever filler. We've replaced the bladder in the pen and the filling system works well.
Color Solid shiny black called "Jet Black" with gold plated trim and a band. Probably made of Lucite or celluloid, or a combination of the two.
Nib Huge 14k gold Waterman's "Hundred Year Pen" nib. Fine and smooth and flexible. See writing sample below.
Condition Excellent condition in box, very smooth and shiny. The clip has some brassing and plating wear along the sides. The barrel bands have light brassing on the edges, and shallow dents on the larger middle one. The lever and leverbox have light plating wear. Cap imprint is clearly legible. There are a few light marks on the cap and barrel. No cracks, chips, or personalization. The top "jewel" looks great. Fully restored and working well.
