Filling System Piston Filler. Although the piston knob may make you think that there's a captive converter, this piece is not removeable.
Color Red resin barrel with sterling silver trim. The sterling portions are modeled after different parts of the Alfa Romeo 6C - 1750 Gran Sport" vehicle. The sterling silver barrel band is engraved with a replica of the car's grill, and the cap finial represents an original rim and tire. The clip, set with a ruby, evokes the red headlamp of the car.
Nib Medium 18k and labeled Millennium and F. It is smooth and springy.
Condition Excellent condition, in box, with all paperwork and a bottle of ink that's never been opened. No cracks, chips, dings, or dents. This is a hefty pen in a beautiful deep red color. There are remnants of glue on the barrel, near the bottom edge of the cap band. There is also a bump on the cap, about halfway up, where we cleaned up some glue residue. The ruby has a small chip on the edge. There is microscratching on both cap and barrel, but no large individual scratches or cracks. The imprints are clear. The pen comes in a securely padded display box, which is enclosed in a silver cardboard box. The cardboard box has some dents in it, but the red display box looks great.
When we received the pen, there were remnants of glue near the barrel band, suggesting that a previous owner tried to open it up to access a converter and ended up loosening the sterling band, then re-gluing it and not doing a particularly good job of it. We have removed as much of the glue as we could, and tested the pen to be sure that it fills and does not leak.
