Product Description
Type Lever filling vintage fountain pen.
Product Name Dollar Pen, we guess this is model B (full length, full girth)
Manufacturer and Year Esterbrook, made in USA – circa 1938-41 (they made this clip style beggining in '38, and they started making dollar pens with grooves instead of a cap band sometime around 1941).
Length 4-3/4"
Filling System Lever filler. We've restored it with a new sac and it's working very well.
Color Red with chrome plated trim, a thin, higher-placed cap band, and the "1938" style clip with the extended ridge and more squared spaces in the clip design.
Nib #1551 Steel Firm Medium. It has been cut into a left oblique which we smoothed a bit. It's firm with nice line variation. No real tipping material (these 1000 series nibs weren't made with real tipping material originally).
Condition Very nice condition. There's some light scratching here and there on the pen, including on the trim, though there's not brassing or real plating wear. No cracks or chips, dings or dents. The imprint is crisp and clear. It's fully restored and working well.
The barrel is engraved "Winifred C. Banks," which was colored in with white, but most of the white has faded off.
