Product Description
Type Vintage fountain pen and mechanical pencil set.
Product Name Esterbrook Pastels, 2nd Generation (colored jewels)
Manufacturer and Year Esterbrook, USA - 1950-57
Length Pen is 4-3/8", pencil is 4-1/2".
Filling System The pen is a lever filler, which we have restored with a new sac. It's working great. The pencil takes 0.9mm (or "thin") leads, which it extends via the cap-actuated mechanism, just like most modern mechanical pencils (press the cap down to extend). We'll include a small packet of leads.
Color Red with chrome trim and red end jewels.
Nib #9668 Medium nib. It's in great condition, fairly smooth, with nice tipping.
Condition Excellent condition. Fountain pen: The color is a great bright red, very even, no fading. Light handwear and microscratching, but no major scratches. Just a bit of staining on the barrel threads and inside the cap, but none otherwise. The trim looks really good, no brassing or serious wear. No cracks or chips, dings or dents, or personalization. The imprint is slightly worn but very visible. Fully restored and working well. Pencil: condition is similar to the pen. There is a rough area on the back of the cap, possibly damage from a sticker that was there too long.
The Purse/Pastel pens and pencils were made with a more fragile plastic than other Esterbrook pens, and it's common to find cracks in the cap lips, but there are none here. Because of this, we suggest that you do not post the pen, or use extreme caution in doing so.
