Product Description
Type Fountain pen set in excellent condition
Product Name Skyline
Manufacturer and Year Eversharp, USA -- 1940s.
Length The fountain pen measures 5-5/16" and the pencil measures 5-1/8".
Filling System The fountain pen has a lever filling system. We replaced the sac and it's working well. The pencil has a clicker mechanism to extend and retract the leads but it doesn't clutch super firmly so when you press the button the leads shoot out. Be careful. It takes 0.9mm leads.
Color Burgundy derby, barrel, and section called "Dubonnet Red." The cap, or cap equivalent for the pencil, also is green/black striated celluloid. It also has a 3/16" cap band which is fairly uncommon. The trim is gold filled.
Nib EXTRA FINE 14k nib. It's got nice tipping and feels smooth. It is a bit springy, but no line variation.
Condition Very nice condition. Both cap bands are heavily brassed. The fountain pen cap has a dent in it and additional brassing on the derby, including the clip portions, and lever. The pencil cone is nearly entirely brassed but it is shiny and not too much darker than the original gold filling. The clip wiggles a bit and the trim near the clip is worn. The Dubonnet parts of both pieces have handwear but no major scratches. All imprints can be read. The fountain pen is fully restored and both are working well.
