Product Description
Type Fountain pen and pencil set in original box/holder
Product Name Eversharp marketed this set-up as the "Desk-Pac" for Christmas of 1950. There's a plastic base with the flip-up lid, and a Symphony Deluxe set - model 703 (pen) and 1703 (pencil).
Manufacturer and Year Eversharp, made in USA - circa 1950
Length Pen is 5-9/16", pencil is 5-1/4"
Filling System Lever filler, we've replaced the sac and it's working very well. The pencil takes 1.1mm (or "thick") leads which it extends via the cap actuated mechanism (like modern mechanical pencils, you click the top of the cap down to extend lead). We'll include a small packet of leads.
Color Burgundy bodies with chrome caps, gold plated trim, and wide 3/8" cap bands.
Nib FLEXIBLE FINE 14k Eversharp nib, smooth with nice tipping material. It has a nice flexibility to it, just a little less than what we would call full flex, but more than semi-flex. Easy line variation from fine to broad.
Condition The pen is in excellent condition, the pencil is better. The pen shows some wear on the cap and barrel, a few slight indentations in the lip of the cap, and a very small indent in the cap about two thirds of the way up it. There are just a couple of tiny spots of brassing on the corners of the lever but none on the cap. The pencil shows very slight handwear on the cap, barrel, and trim, as well as a few tiny, very light indents, one in the cap band and a couple on the cone. No cracks or chips in either piece, no personalization. Both pen and pencil are working very well.
The set comes in a unique box with calendar for 1950 in it and places to rest the pen and pencil upright. The original quality control tag is in the box, and the pencil still has its original sticker on it (see photos). The base is in excellent condition with no cracks or scratches. The original outer carboard box is included.
