Product Description
Type Fountain pen with a hooded nib
Product Name This is one of the many Hero 100 models. This appears to be an early high-quality one, not the typical Parker 51 knock-off one associates with the model. It is extremely heavy and well-made, with a cap that has a rainbow pattern comprised of two metals ala the Parker 61. (We posted the pen on FOUNTAIN PEN NETWORK and no one had seen this model before.)
Manufacturer and Year Hero, China, year unknown. Since it says "Made in China" on the cap one has to think it might have been for the export market.
Length 5-1/2"
Filling System There is an aerometric squeeze filling system. We can't tell if this can be removed in order to use cartridges, because it's in there rather tightly and we don't want to risk breaking anything.
Color Black barrel with a gold (filled) metal cap that seems to be made of yellow and rose gold. Unlike the Parker 61 "rainbowing," the jewel and clip tassie are also two colored.
Nib Medium-fine hooded nib, probably 14k (defininite not steel)
Condition Excellent condition with only light scratches on the black plastic caused by removing and replacing the cap. No cracks or deep scratches. We tested the pen and did not find any leaks, and the ink flow was very good.
The cap is perfect with no dents or dings, just some microscratching. No plating wear.
