Product Description
Type Vintage lever fill pen which works beautifully and has a flexible nib. Very uncommon, we've only found references to model numbers up to 75, so we think the 76 is fairly uncommon, especially with the #16 nib (the 75 pen had a #15 nib).
Product Name Model 76, as marked at the end of the barrel imprint
Manufacturer and Year John Holland, USA -- 1920s.
Length 5-13/16"
Filling System Hatchet filler (We have replaced the bladder and it works very well.) This is a simple sac/pressure bar type of filling system .... you raise the lever, pivot the lever 180 degrees, and use the "button" on the underside of the lever to pump the sac.
Color Black chased hard rubber cap and barrel. Silver colored lever.
Nib Medium flexible nib. The nib is a #16 Holland nib that offers good line variation. (There's a line thru the "1" in the nib photo, but we think that was just a fibre present during the photo and not a crack. If you look at the nib shot, the fibre is gone.) Please see the writing sample below.
Condition Excellent condition. The chasing pattern is strong througout. The ebonite is slightly faded, but still quite dark. There are some small shallow bite marks at the top of the cap and the end of the barrel. No real scratches, or cracks or chips. The barrel imprint is strong and clear.
