Product Description
Type Unique modern luxury fountain pen
Product Name Hysek Pen.
Manufacturer and Year Hysek, made in France -- 1999-2006. This is a current design, but not a current model - none of the Hysek pens currently available are fountain pens. The band near the end of the barrel says Jorg Hysek which the company stopped being called in 2006.
Length 5-11/16"
Filling System Cartridge or converter, international configuration. Converter installed in the pen. (You unscrew the end of the pen opposite the nib, and the section is pushed out and released.)
Color Striped palladium plated barrel with palladium plated trim and section. There is a black o-ring between the section and barrel - we added this to stabilize the nib so that it didn't turn when you turned the end knob. It looks almost like a double sided pen or like a very short desk pen. The pen sleeve is part of the design and has the pen clip on it.
Nib 18k medium nib. It is labeled M for medium near the barrel threads after unscrewing the barrel. Very smooth. See the writing sample below.
Condition Excellent condition, in box. There's a chip in the feed which can be seen in the photos. There are some scratches on the blind cap, near the "Jorg Hysek" imprint - they almost look like tool marks, where perhaps a previous user tried to remove the blind cap (for the record, it does NOT come off). There are faint marks on the surface of the pen - under magnification, they looks like faint freckles, but don't really show up to the naked eye. There is some light scratching and polishing marks on the palladium. The pen sleeve looks great. No cracks, chips, or dents. Working very well. The box looks great, no damage or marks on it.
When we got the pen, the internal mechanism was jammed and would not release the section. Hysek said they couldn't fix it, so we had to work on the pen and eventually got the section to release. We had to add the o-ring so that the section would tighten up properly and not turn when you turned the knob.
