Product Description
Type Cartridge/converter filling fountain pen and matching ballpoint, working well.
Product Name Lady Sheaffer model #620. It is a White Dot pen set. (There is a 620X version of this pen which features a gold plated band and clip, and a 14k nib, but this is the version with the steel nib).
Manufacturer and Year Sheaffer, Made in USA -- early 1970s.
Length The fountain pen is 5-3/16 inches capped, and the ballpoint is 5-1/8 inches.
Filling System The fountain pen is fitted with a working convertor which can be removed to use cartridges (not included). The ballpoint will work (somewhat) with modern Sheaffer ballpoint refils, but we found it actually works better with a filed-down Parker refill like the one currently installed. The ballpoint works by the "Reminder Clip" mechanism, the action of which sticks just slightly but is working well. The ballpoint was originally intended for the early "winged" top refills, which are no longer made.
Color Angle-brushed silver colored cap and barrel with chrome plated trim and an ornate cap band. There's a white dot on the clip of both pens.
Nib FINE steel nib with a slight upturn is smooth with nice tipping material and just a hint of flex. This semi-hooded nib style is called "Stylpoint" and it is the same nib they used on the Imperial I.
Condition Excellent condition, no cracks or chips, dings or dents, personalization, or plating wear. There's some scratching on the section and very light marks of handwear on the cap and barrel. The fountain pen's white dot is a bit yellowed. There are some more scratches on the ballpoint, especially near the clip. Both pens are working very well.
