Product Description
Type Cartridge/converter filling fountain pen
Product Name Lady Sheaffer IX -- part of the Skripsert line.
Manufacturer and Year Sheaffer USA -- 1960s.
Length 5-3/8 inches.
Filling System Cartridge/converter filler. It takes Sheaffer cartridges and converters. A piston converter does not fit, but the squeeze converter does and we have installed one.
Color The body is gold plated with detailing in red. We've heard this "Tulle" pattern described as crushed chicken wire.
Nib MEDIUM the section is marked with the nib size, but this is clearly a mid-century conception of nib-size, because it's more like what would be called a fine on modern Western pens. The nib is gold colored and is marked Sheaffer's. It's a semi-hooded "Stylpoint" nib and it is found only on these clip-less Lady Sheaffer Skripserts, and on the Imperial I.
Condition Excellent condition. The pen has noticeable polishing and black marks with very intact red filling on the tulle patterning. The section has a few cap marks from capping and a faded chalk mark labeling the nib size and the original price. No cracks or chips, dings or dents. The cap spins easily when capped but is not at risk at falling off. These Lady Sheaffers are very hard to find in good condition, as the finish damages easily.
