Product Description
Type Cartridge/converter filling fountain pen and mechanical pencil set
Product Name Lady Sheaffer IX -- part of the Skripsert line.
Manufacturer and Year Sheaffer USA -- 1960s.
Length The pen is 5-3/8 inches, and the pencil is right at 5" long.
Filling System Sheaffer cartridge ONLY. We tested a piston and squeeze converters, and neither one fits (don't try this at home, because we've done the work for you - the squeeze converter gets stuck in the barrel and pulls away from the section). The pencil takes 0.9mm leads, and advance and retract by twisting the top half of the pen.
Color The body is gold plated with detailing in red. We've heard this "Tulle" pattern described as crushed chicken wire.
Nib FINE - no marks to indicate nib size, but it looks like a fine to us. The nib is gold colored and is marked Sheaffer's. It's a semi-hooded "Stylpoint" nib and it is found only on these clip-less Lady Sheaffer Skripserts, and on the Imperial I.
Condition Excellent condition. The fountain pen has noticeable polishing and black marks and pitting, though the red filling on the tulle patterning is largely intact. The section has a few marks from capping. The cap spins easily when capped but is not at risk at falling off. Both ends of the fountain pen are dented. The pencil also has a lot of black marks and pitting. These Lady Sheaffers are very hard to find in good condition, as the finish damages easily.
