Product Description
Type Beautiful uncommon three-piece set (fountain pen, ballpoint, and mechanical pencil) in vintage Lady Sheaffer.
Product Name Lady Sheaffer Skripsert Stylist -- this is an unusual model, one that we've not seen before! The surface patterning is Gold Moire, which was one of the Lady Sheaffer designs. However, all three pieces have clips, the long thin Stylist clips, which are not present on the Lady Sheaffers.
Manufacturer and Year Sheaffer, made in USA -- c. 1968 (this is the later period of the Skripserts, when they shifted to short Triumph Nibs).
Length The fountain pen is 5-1/2" long, ballpoint is 5-5/16" long, and the pencil is 5-1/4".
Filling System The fountain pen takes standard Sheaffer cartridges. Many Lady Sheaffers do not accept converters, however we were pleased to find the modern piston converter will fit and we have installed a new one in the pen. The ballpoint pen takes standard Sheaffer refills. The mechanical pencil takes 0.9mm leads. We will include a packet of leads.
Color The body is light colored gold enamel in a moire pattern with matching cap and engraved barrel bands. The section on the fountain pen is black. White dots on the top part of the clips. Original black stickers on all the caps (but with no descriptive information on them -- they are blank). The cap bands are a deeply etches woven pattern that is shiny gold.
Nib FINE short triumph style 14k gold nib is smooth with nice tipping material.
Condition Near mint condition, in Lady Sheaffer box, and with no cracks, chips, dents, dings and very few marks of usage. It must be said at the outset that it is very difficult to see scratching on these pieces because of the moire patterning but it appears that none have scratches on the caps or barrels. The fountain pen clip has has long, thin polishing lines and the white dot has a small yellow dot in its center. This pen has been previously inked. The ballpoint pen clip has similar lines with overall yellowing of the white dot. The ballpoint tip has light microscratching. The mechanical pencil clip also has the long, thin scratch lines and yellowing in the center of the white dot. The cone has microscratching.
