Product Description
Type Lever fill fountain pen
Product Name Blackbird 5261, Self-filling. 5261 is marked on the piston knob, and Blackbird is everywhere else.
Manufacturer and Year Mabie Todd, England, 1920-30s
Length 4-15/16"
Filling System Lever filler restored here at Peyton Street Pens with a new sac.
Color Black chased hard rubber with silver colored trim.
Nib Broad or stub #2 Mabie Todd Blackbird nib has long tines and is nicely flexible, not quite full flex. See writing sample. The nib looks like it was bent and then adjusted back into alignment, but it writes smoothly.
Condition Excellent condition. There is some fading on the pen. The chasing pattern on the cap looks good. The chasing on the barrel is largely smoothed down. The imprint is strong. The clip has some brassing and plating wear, as does the lever bar. No cracks or chips. Nearly every part of this pen is labeled as "Blackbird" - cap, section, barrel, nib, and feed!
