Product Description
Type Vintage lever filling fountain pen.
Product Name 142/1 (the model number is visible on the end of the barrel).
Manufacturer and Year Mabie Todd & Co. New York -- circa later 1920s
Length 5-1/2" (this is the large size corresponding to the 4 in the 142 model number).
Filling System Lever filler. We've restored it with a new sac and it's working well.
Color Black hard rubber with gold plated or gold filled trim. It has a 1/2" wide cap band near the cap lip.
Nib FLEXIBLE FINE Mabie Todd & Co. NY #2 gold nib is in nice condition, smooth with lovely tipping. It's not quite what we would call full flex, but it's close, with easy line variation from a nice small fine to a large braod and double broad with very little pressure. See our writing sample below.
Condition Excellent condition except for the solid handwear ont he cap and barrel which give it a slightly dull look and make the imprint difficult to read. There's a little brassing on the sides and ball of the clip, and on the edge of the wide cap band close to the cap lip, as well as some on the lever. No cracks or chips, dings or dents, or personalization. It's fully restored and working well.
