Product Description
Type Vintage eyedropper fountain pen with a flexible nib. The cap has a long silver snake rollstop installed. The snake is probably sterling and there is a small red gem in its head. We're not sure how old the rollstop is, but it might be of more modern manufacture than the pen itself.
Product Name Swan 1500, as marked at the bottom of the section.
Manufacturer and Year Mabie Todd & Co., New York -- 1910s. Marked "made in USA during war" which refers to WWI.
Length 5-1/4"
Filling System Eyedropper pen. It has been tested and cleaned. It is working well with no leaks.
Color Black chased hard rubber (BCHR).
Nib FLEXIBLE FINE 14k Mabie Todd nib. It has an overfeed and the tines spread easily for strong line variation. See the writing sample below.
Condition Excellent condition. The pen looks great and is very dark. The chasing is mostly faded away and can only be made out at certain angles. The cap imprint is in great condition, though difficult to read with the rollstop blocking the view, and the main barrel imprint is legible. The section doesn't fit perfectly flush against the barrel and there's a very small step-down. The section looks a bit dull from handwear.
