Product Description
Type vintage eyedropper filling system fountain pen with a flexible nib.
Product Name Swan with an unknown number
Manufacturer and Year Mabie Todd & Co., New York -- 1930s
Length A little under 3-1/2"
Filling System Eyedropper filler. We've restored it with a new sac and it's working well.
Color Black hard rubber with solid 14k overlay. The pen is marked 14k at the end of the barrel and at the top of the cap. The main pattern of the pen is lengthwise fine lines. The pen is personalized "A.D.I." in mid-barrel.
Nib FULLY FLEXIBLE FINE 14k Mabie Todd nib. It's very smooth with good tipping. It's got very good line variation and feels very soft. The tip of the nib is curved downward, probably an adjustment needed to bring the tines back together after the nib was over-flexed. See our writing sample below.
Condition Very nice condition for this diminuitive ring top pen. The section has a number of small, deep scratch marks, though it is a very shiny black in appearance. The barrel has some light scratching and some definite dings toward and at the end. The cap has moderate scratching at the top, with some small dings and at the bottom below one of the air holes. The ring top looks great. There is a personalization, "A.D.I." in mid barrel. The imprints are clear.
