Product Description
Type Vintage lever filling fountain pen.
Product Name Self-Filler
Manufacturer and Year Mabie Todd & Co., England -- circa 1930s.
Length 4-15/16"
Filling System Lever filler. We've restored it with a new sac and it's working well. (Note: the writing sample says "Visofill", but that is incorrect.)
Color "Italian Marble" is what Mabie Todd called this, and it's got green, red, and some purple bits marbled together. Gold clip and black lever. One narrow cap band.
Nib Medium flexible 14k nib labeled " 'Swan' 2 G 14C-585 Mabie Todd & Co". You'll get some line variation from medium to double-broad or so. See our writing sample. (Note: apparently no one knows what the G stands for, including the guy who wrote a whole book on Mabie Todd!)
Condition Very nice condition. The barrel has marks caused by the cap lip and light to moderate scratching with heavier scratches toward the end of the barrel. There is a crack in the cap lip, about 3/16" long that stops at the cap ring. We've included a detailed shot of this area in the photos. The cap has light to moderate scratching. The clip has plating wear on the edges and high points, and also around the ball. The thin cap band has plating wear and some dots of pitting. The lever bar looks good. The imprints are clear.
