Nib FLEXIBLE ITALIC FINE "Swan" #1 14k Mabie Todd & Co. nib is in nice condition, with good tipping. The feed is imprinted "MI" which we are guessing indicated "medium italic." The nib has a little bit of a left oblique shape to it. It's smooth, and unflexed writes like an italic fine. When the nib is flexed, it spans between fine and a wide broad. See the writing sample below. There are a fair number of surface scratches on the nib but it doesn't affect writing.
Condition Excellent condition +, near mint except for some wear on the nib and end of the barrel. The chasing and imprint are incredibly crisp and intact. There is some fine pitting of the clip's plating. There's hardly any scratching on the pen, just minor handwear. The nickel trim has held up well. It has been personalized with the name, "HERBERT CLEMENTS," just below the imprint, so it is easy to miss and blends in with the imprint. The pen looks great, with no cracks, chips, or big scratches. Fully restored and working well.
