Product Description
Type ring top fountain pen
Product Name Swan Pen, as imprinted on the end of the barrel. (The US Swan pens do not have the excess of Swan imprints that the English variants do.)
Manufacturer and Year Mabie Todd & Co. New York -- 1920s or 30s, the lack of gold imprint implies that it is early.
Length 3-13/16"
Filling System Lever filler. A new sac has been installed and it's working well.
Color Gold filled with alternating pattern of wavy angled slashes and lengthwise waves. The gold filled overlay is over black hard rubber which can be seen on the top of the section.
Nib FINE SEMI-FLEXIBLE Mabie Todd & Co NY #2 nib. It is gold and flexes fairly easily. We didn't push the nib too much but you will get moderate line variation from extra fine to medium. Please see writing sample below.
Condition Excellent + condition. The barrel imprint is a little bit faded but the detailed patterning is very crisp and unworn. The barrel is personalized with the initials "S. S." There are some tool marks on the nib collar. The cap lip and edges of the lever have plating wear. There are some scratches on the end of the barrel. No cracks, chips, dents, or major scratches. Fully restored and working well.
