Product Description
Type Lever filler fountain pen
Product Name Stenograph .... it has an imprint on the barrel indicating the model name. Fairly uncommon, as most of the pens we see marked Stenograph are simple black chased hard rubber.
Manufacturer and Year Mabie Todd & Co., USA -- 1920s.
Length 5"
Filling System Lever filler. We've restored it with a new sac and it's working well.
Color Since it's not numbered we can't be sure what pattern this is but it does not match the snakeskin or the lizardskin patterns. We think it is "black and silver candy stripe." It has three thin cap bands and a gold filled clip. There is a swan on the top of the cap and on the barrel as part of the main imprint.
Nib FINE "Swan" 14k nib. It's a good looking nib and feed that writes smoothly. This is a firm nib.
Condition Excellent condition. The pen trim looks a bit mismatched between the cap bands, lever, and clip. It seems likely that the trim is just completely gone on the lever and bands. The barrel has shallow bite marks and the imprints are clear., light plating wear and handwear. There's some cap marks from posting and capping. The imprints are clear. There are two sets of imprints: the usual one photographed below and another perpendicular to that imprint that says stenograph in quotes. No cracks, chips, or big scratches. Fully restored and working well.
