Product Description
Type Piston filling fountain pen, with "safety" retractable nib. Serial number MBKC6G130 is engraved on the clip's retaining ring.
Product Name Heritage Collection 1912
Manufacturer and Year Montblanc, Germany -- this model was first produced in 2013, and we think that it was retired in the last couple of years.
Length 4-3/4" long. The cap does not post on the end of the barrel.
Filling System Piston-filler, with a twist (pun intended!). In order to operate the piston mechanism, you must first extend the nib by twisting the blind cap. When the nib is fully extended, you can then pull the blind cap out slightly (just a couple of millimeters), and then twist to operate the piston. (Note that you must retract the nib before replacing the cap, and there is a pin inside the cap that will prevent you from securing the cap if the nib is extended)
Color Black, with platinum-plated trim. The cap finial is the Montblanc logo in mother-of-pearl lacquer, enclosed in a transparent dome.
Nib FINE Montblanc 14k gold nib marked 4810. It's springy and smooth with nice tipping material.
Condition Excellent condition. No cracks, chips, dings or dents, personalization, or plating wear. There is light scratching on the cap. The cap trim looks good, with just light polishing marks. The barrel has light scratching on the lacquered surface. There are some scratches on the turning knob, on the sides and around the top edge. The cap finial is beautiful. Nib size sticker is present on the turning know, with some handwear on it. A beautiful homage to the highest mountain in the Alps, and also to fountain pen history!
