Nib EXTRA-FINE Montblanc two-toned 14c gold nib marked 4810 and with a star logo. It's bouncy with just a bit of flex, which you can see in the writing sample below.
Condition Very nice condition. It appears as though there was some damage to the cap, because the lip edge is damaged (see note below for details). The top two cap bands have scratching and several spots of brassing. The lower cap band has some heavier scratches and dots of plating wear (probably related to the below noted damage, or the repair thereof). The rest of the cap has light to moderate scratching. The clip has brassing and some pitting on the highest point of the face; the clip ring has tiny touches of brassing. The star logos on the cap and end of the barrel are intact and look good, with light scratching. The section has scratching and marks caused by the cap lip. The threads has some slight damage. The barrel has light to moderate scratching. Piston knob has some shallow bite marks. It's working well. The imprints are clear.
Note: There is a metal ring inside the cap lip, which we normally don't see. The resin on the bottom of the cap looks like it's a bit melted and reformed around that internal cap band for support. The cap threads are also a bit rough, and there's only about a half turn available to screw on the cap. On the outer surface of the cap lip, there is one spot where that inner cap band peeks through. It's really a shame, because according to the Collectible Stars book, this model was never seen in a price list, making it a fairly rare find.
