Type Fountain pen with desk pen base and cap
Product Name Model 149 desk set.
Manufacturer and Year Montblanc, Germany -- late1980s. It has brass piston threads, a blue-grey ink window, and a two tone nib.
Length The base is 3" by 3" and the pen measures 5-7/8".
Filling System Piston filler
Color Black, gold plated trim. The pen base is three layers, black-clear-black with a gold lined border between the top two layers.
Nib Medium Cursive Italic 18k. It started as a medium or broad nib and now writes between them with good line variation. It's very smooth and springy. It writes more on the italic side than the stub side. See the writing sample below.
Condition Excellent + condition, with light general wear but no chips or cracks in the base or pen holder.. No scratches, cracks or chips in the pen itself. Ships with desk pen box and Montblanc 149 booklet but the desk base doesn't fit well in the box.... we're not sure how this packaging originally fit together!
The base comes in the original Monblanc box, but we will ship the pen in a separate tube to protect it in shipping.
