Product Description
Type Fountain pen
Product Name Model 149
Manufacturer and Year Montblanc, Germany -- 1970s. It looks like it has a replacement barrel from the 1980s or it was a 1980s pen with 1960s/70s parts. Both are possible. The split ebonite feed was used from 1975-91. The barrel is from after 1983 and the threaded plastic piston threads are from 1968-85. The tri-tone 14c nib was used from 1952-72.
Length 5-7/8"
Filling System Piston filler. It's been cleaned and tested and is working well.
Color Black barrel with gold plated trim.
Nib EXTRA FINE 14k Nib. The nib is a very springy tri-tone 14C Montblanc 4810 nib. The pen has a split ebonite feed. The nib size is unlabeled but the barrel has two EF stickers. The silver colored part of the masking is a bit faded.
Condition Superior condition. The Germany imprint is a bit worn but it is easily read and there is nearly no plating wear. We did not see any on the cap bands, just on the end part of the clip. The pen has handwear and polishing marks but no scratches, chips, or cracks. The plastic piston seal and the viewing window are very clear. The pen has two barrel stickers.
