Product Description
Type Early safety-fill fountain pen
Product Name Non-Leakable
Manufacturer and Year The Moore Co. Late teens, early 1920s. (They changed the name from American Fountain Pen Co. to Moore circa 1917, so this is probably from a few years after that at the latest. The pen is marked Moore, and the nib is marked American.)
Length 4-3/4"
Filling System This is a variation on the safety pen. To fill you unscrew the cap and fill the pen reservoir like an eyedropper, then turn the knob on the end of the barrel to extend the nib up thru the ink until it makes a seal, at which time you can begin writing. When you are done writing, you retract the nib and screw the cap on. The system has been disassembled and tested. The cork seal was in excellent condition.
Color Black hard rubber with a gold filled filigree overlay design.
Nib FLEXIBLE FINE. American Fountain Pen nib. See writing sample below. Excellent hairlines and responsiveness, max flex to double broad (we didn't try to push it beyond that).
Condition Really gorgeous, almost like new with beautiful overlayed gold pattern and no scratches or wear. The only flaw is some oxidization of the hard rubber, it looks a little brown. It writes very well and we will guarantee the filling system for a year.
