Product Description
Type Vintage Fountain Pen and Mechanical Pencil Set
Product Name Unknown.
Manufacturer and Year The Moore Pen Co., Boston, Mass., USA -- 1920s
Length Both the fountain pen and pencil are 4-1/2" long, excluding the ringtop hardware.
Filling System Lever filler, restored with a new sac. The pencil takes 1.1mm leads, which advance by twisting the nose cone; it only holds one lead at a time, there's no reserve.
Color Red marbled material. Both pieces have gold filled trim including 1/8" wide cap bands.
Nib Fine semi-flexible gold nib. It's fairly soft, and will give you line variation from fine or extra-fine to broad. Please see our writing sample in the pictures below.
Condition Excellent + condition, in leather pouch. Fountain pen: There is light handwear and scratching. There are cracks in the material at both the top of the cap and end of the barrel. Neither one should affect the pen's ability to write, but we recommend against hanging the pen from a chain, to prevent further damage to the cap. The cap lip is smooth and free of cracks or chips. The cap band has polishing marks and some tiny touches of brassing. The barrel has light to moderate scratching. The lever bar has some plating wear on the sides, but the top surface looks nice. The mechanical pencil has cracks in the ring top. Again, we caution against hanging it from a chain. The material has light to moderate scratching on the upper and lower portions, slightly dulling the surface. The middle trim band has brassing and light plating wear along the edges. The nose cone has a lot of brassing. The color is strong on both pieces, a really attractive burgundy red color. The pouch is rather worn, but is still able to snap closed and provide some protection to the set. The "Moore's" logo inside looks great! The imprint on the pen is clear.
