Product Description
Type Lever fill fountain pen with a great flexible nib
Product Name Unknown
Manufacturer and Year Morrison Fountain Pen Company, New York (1910s-20s). Morrison was one of the third tier pen makers, but this pen is from one of the nicer lines we've seen, so we suspect this was top of the line.
Length 5-1/8".
Filling System The pen is a lever filler, which we have fully restored with a new sac.
Color 1/40 14k gold-filled filigree in a sort of floral design over black hard rubber.
Nib FLEXIBLE MEDIUM-FINE 14kt Morrison NY nib. Some scratches on the surface of the nib. See writing sample.
Condition Excellent condition. There is light to moderate scratching all over the pen. There is some brassing on the filigree portions of the cap and barrel. The top of the cap is has brassing and plating wear around the edge. The clip also has brassing and plating wear on the sides and around the ball end. The hard rubber looks good, it's still quite dark. There is a hairline crack near the top of the cap, in the "window" above the clip; this is visible in the first photo. It's surrounded by gold, so we believe it will remain stable. The section and barrel look good, with wear that's similar to the cap. The filigree overlay has light scratching and scattered spots of brassing, but there are no large dents or dings. The hard rubber end finial is slightly faded, as compared to the portion that was protected underneath the cap. No chips or tooth marks. The imprints are clear.
