Product Description
Type Fountain Pen
Product Name "The Patriot". This is one made for the army. There were three main versions of this model and this is the third version. See the Richard's Pens pen profile
Manufacturer and Year Morrison Fountain Pen Company, New York -- 1940s. Morrison was one of the third tier pen makers.
Length 5-1/4" long
Filling System The fountain pen is a syringe/post filler. Morrison called it a "Visual Vacuum Filler." We have replaced the piston seal and it is working well. (NOTE: the filling system is slightly "sticky"; it may take some force to pull back the piston. Be sure to grip the section and filling unit at the threads between the two, rather than at the front of the section nearest the nib. We also recommend not storing it with the plunger fully depressed, just so that it starts easier.)
Color Olive green with slanted flat cap. Both pieces have thin gold plated trim. The fountain pen has a vermeil Army crest attached to the top of the cap.
Nib EXTRA-FINE 14k Morrison NY nib. The nib is springy and smooth.
Condition Excellent condition. No cracks or chips. Much of the gold plating is worn away from the cap emblem. The surface of the cap has moderate scratching. The clip has brassing and some plating loss, but it is firmly attached. The cap band has a somewhat rough surface. The section looks good. The barrel has moderate scratching. The imprint is clear. No personalization. The pen is fully restored and working well.
